Hello fellow Baguio Multipliers.

Sir Art Tibaldo has suggested that we cover the Panagbenga events with a 'uniform' attire. He suggested a polo shirt or a scarf that can symbolize Panagbenga and the Baguio Multipliers Group.

Although I have presented layout for a shirt, these layouts can be placed in other objects as well.

Please give your suggestions/ inputs by commenting on this blog post. Maybe we can all consider other things such as buttons, a head scarf, etc.

Blog EntryFirst Photo Challenge : ChristmasDec 4, '07 3:38 AM
by Sheryllene for everyone
For the first installment of this site's photo challenge, please upload your photos in this site's gallery. May I please ask your help/ suggestions.

DEADLINE : December 14, 2007 11:59pm (Friday)

THEME  : Christmas

The Yuletide season is just around the corner and I urge our members to join this photo challenge. This is about challenging yourself and letting those creative juices flowing (and overflowing - which is good!). Take pictures of Christmas trees, lights, people decorating, people singing Christmas carols, the list is endless!

May I please ask the help of the members in formulating ways in choosing the winners, the 'voting system' and the like. Sir Noli Gabilo suggested we do the challenge twice a month, which I think will warm us up for a weekly challenge if ever :)

In the meantime, may I suggest the following:

1. All members of this group can post a maximum of three photos for the challenge. Label each picture with your multiply username plus "entry #" (e.g. sheryllene entry 1).

2. You can vote as many as you like but only one vote per picture.

3. Five photos with the most votes will be announced in this site and will be given a GOLDEN GONG AWARD (I cooked that up hehehe, hey, they have the moon men, the golden statues and the surf board!)

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Looking forward to your suggestions and feedback! :)

Blog EntrySuggestion : Weekly ContestsNov 30, '07 4:54 AM
by Sheryllene for everyone
Many thanks to all the contributers of the Baguio Photographers' Multiply site.

I was thinking of a Weekly Photo Challenge for all members. Every week, a theme will be introduced and members can join by uploading their photos in this site.

After the deadline, members will then vote for their preferred photo.

This of course was inspired with the many weekly photo challenges found in the web. I think it is a great way to keep those creative juices flowing.  Let's now do it the Baguio Photographers' way :)

Let me know what you guys think of it :) And we'll start next week :) And no, you don't have to look like the photographer on the left to join ;)

Blog EntryLast Farewell by Erap EstradaOct 13, '07 2:00 PM

HULING PAALAM
Ni Joseph "Jose Velarde" Estrada
(Pasintabi kay Dr. Jose Rizal)

Adios bayang aking pinagnakawan,

At kung magmamaugas ako'y sisipain nila
Sa kangkungan pupuluting tila mabahong basura.

Ako'y namamaalam upang dilira ay mapawi,
Sa bayang ito na sobra nang sawi.
Baka sakaling ekonomya'y makabawi
Kapag nawala na mga barkada't kroni,
At mga kalaguyong kagaya ni Laarni.

Simula't sapul ako'y may simpleng pangarap

Labing-isang senador nasa aking panig!

Ano't iniwan akong nagdurusa?
Atong Ang, nasaan ka hayop ka?
Pareng FPJ, parang awa mo na,
Saklolo Danding, Tan, Maceda, Imelda at iba pa.

Kaya bago abutan ng bayang nagngangalit
Baka sakaling pupuwede pang makapuslit.
Paalam masang aking pinagtaksilan,

September 1 marks the 98th Charter Day of Baguio City. I believe the traditional parade was cancelled by the organizers because of the weather. Nevertheless, a variety of activities have been lined up to commemorate the founding of Baguio (kindly click on this link to see the schedule of activities).

The Artist

Rudi Tabora’s involvement in photography dates back to the 1970’s. Being his family’s official photographer, he tells the Tabora family’s story in photographs that span more than three generations of pictures including those of his nieces’ and nephews’, as well as their children’s.

Rudi’s involvement in the local art scene in the 1990’s was further nourished when he was tasked to manage the much renowned and publicized Baguio Arts Festival; the yearly event put the city in the art and cultural map of the country. His interactions with various artists from different regions and countries fostered a genuine interest and passion for the arts. His exposure and discussions with artist friends, further honed his knowledge and skills as a photographer.

His earliest influences in photography were Baguio photographers Wig Tysman, Boy Yniguez and Tommy Hafalla. His latest inspiration, however, came from the works of young artist Fifi Perez, who exhibited her works at the Café by the Ruins earlier this year.

Inevitably, Rudi Tabora brings into his photography his ways of being and seeing as a Zen practitioner. He continuously nourishes his art and practice through discipline and study. Photographer & Zen Master Daido Loori is among his greatest influence in Zen photography.

Rudi Tabora is one of the members of the Baguio Zen Center for Oriental Spirituality affiliated with the Sanbo Kyodan Association - a contemporary lay Zen organization based in Japan.

SOULITUDE

Soulitude is a collection of black and white photographs that honor soul work of both viewer and artist. Stripped down to their barest essences, these ‘no color’ pictures take us to levels that evoke a way of seeing with heart and eye.

Varying moods, tones and emotions rise with the celebration of light and praising of shadows—a way of discovering beauty in ordinary scenes, a shift from denying to acknowledging loss, an attempt at capturing the moment while accepting its impermanence.

The images take us to the past. They allow us to appreciate our story, honor our fellow humans who have done intricate work with their hands, patiently, day after day. They allow us to find meaning in the ordinary.

Soulitude reminds us of quietness, of slowing down, of being here. Now. These images remind us to sit down. Have a cup of tea. Contemplate.

Soulitude is a celebration of everyday life! Just as it is.

Exhibit ongoing till Aug. 25, '07
